Vedic Mathematics
Vedic Mathematics refers to the ancient mathematical system of India, which was rediscovered from the Vedas by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960) between 1911 and 1918. Tirthaji’s research revealed that all of mathematics is rooted in sixteen Sutras, or word-formulas. For instance, one of these Sutras is ‘Vertically and Crosswise.’ These formulae elucidate the innate thought processes of the human mind and serve as valuable guides for students to find the most suitable problem-solving methods.
These Sutras essentially describe the mental procedures elaborated in the paper titled ‘Structures in the Vedic Mathematics Sutras.’ These mental processes lay the foundation for mathematical concepts.
