Karate is a martial art that uses empty handed weaponless techniques such as punching and kicking to overcome the opponent.
A KARATE instructor with
the Skill Development Centre
(SDC), Shihabudeen, has
been awarded the Dan Black
Belt by Japan Shotokan
Karate Association (JSKA).
With this, the SDC will be
the only authorised karate
training centre in Qatar to
award the JSKA certi?cate.
Announcing this at a press
conference on Wednesday,
SDC Director PN Baburajan
said, “Students trained by
Shihabudeen have performed
well in many platforms set by
the Qatar Karate Federation.
The recognition gained by the
SDC through Shihabudeen
will not only be a credit for
our institution but offer
opportunity for large number
of Karate students to be
familiar with the new style of
karate.”
The award was given to
Shihabudeen by Abe Keigo,
founder and chief of JSKA,
during their annual training
camp held in Kerala recently.
Apart from Shihabudeen, a
number of other well experienced trainers from Sri
Lanka, Oman and the UAE
had participated in the camp.
Speaking on occasion,
Baburajan said that a large
number of students enrol in
karate training institutes in
Qatar to learn one of the
world’s most famous martial
arts. “The support given by
the Qatar Karate Federation
has also been an inspiration
for these students,”
Baburajan pointed out.
Shihabudeen said that students in Qatar would get
opportunity to enjoy different
Japanese karate techniques
which had hitherto been hard
to practice.
“This achievement will
inspire students to join with
the SDC for higher level training to get internationally
acclaimed certifications,” he
said. Apart from karate, the
SDC also offers courses in
dance, music and painting.
