Skills 9th annivesary at Qatar Tribune

DOHA SKILLS Development Center (SDC), a fine arts and martial arts institute, celebrated its 9th anniversary in Doha recently.

Chief of Qatar Community Police Major Ghanem Sa’d Al Khayarain, inaugurated the function at Gulf Cinema.

The programme featured various performances, including Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi dances; Violin, Guitar and Keyboard Piano playing; Karnatic, Tamil music, contemporary and semi-classical dances.

Altogether 130 students from the centre performed at the event, which lasted for three hours.

Talking to Qatar Tribune, Managing Director of the SDC PN Baburajan said the programme was a platform for the SDC students to showcase their talent before the public and art lovers in Doha.

The Indian classical dances choreographed by Kalamandalam Devi and Kalamandalam Simna, trainers at the SDC, depicted Indian culture and tradition.

The fusion dance which highlighted the story of a typical Indian woman and the Tabala performance led by Santhosh Kulkarni were major attractions on the occasion.

The students also presented a Karate show, which drew wide applause from the audience.

Dignitaries at the function included Chairman of Birla Public School C V Rappai, Honorary President of Bhavan’s Public School Saleem Ponnambath and Founder and Chairman of Sri Lankan Community School Kumudu Foneska. Vidya Anil anchored the programme while SDC Director A K Jaleel proposed a vote of thanks.
